Thank you for visiting our website! Brisbane German Language School is a not-for-profit school offering German classes for children and adults at all levels of competency. Founded in the 1960s, we offer classes Saturday mornings at St Peters Lutheran College in Indooroopilly. Our youth and adult courses are complemented by a program of regular cultural activities, allowing learners to put into action what they have learned in the classroom and explore the cultures and traditions of German-speaking countries.

School Christmas Party 26 Nov 2011

We will be holding our Christmas Celebration on Saturday, 26 November 2011 from 3.00 pm until about 5.00 pm at the Parents and Friends Centre at St. Peters Lutheran College. On behalf of the Management Committee of BGLS, we would like to invite you and your children, friends and family to attend this celebration as an opportunity to conclude this year with a festive gathering.

Parents, if you would like your child(ren) to receive a present from the “Weihnachtsmann”, please bring one on the day, worth no more than $20 and pre-wrapped with their full name attached to it. This present will then be handed to your child at the Christmas Celebration.

I would also like to ask your material support for the event. We would very much appreciate your contribution in the form of cakes or Christmas cookies – Australian, German or of any other cultural provenance – to make the afternoon a culinary success. Would you please be so kind and indicate to our two school coordinators, Heidi and Ruth, as soon as possible what you are able to bring to the event.  Coffee, tea and juice for the children will be provided.

We’re looking for a new Treasurer

As other incorporated not-for-profit organsiations, Brisbane German Language School is governed by a volunteer Management Committee, or Board of Management. Our Committee currently consists of five members and will remain in office until the 2012 AGM to be held in Term 2 next year. Because of other commitments, our Treasurer will resign at the end of this year.

We are now looking for a person willing to take on the role of Treasurer from Janaury 2012. The ideal candidate would have experience in managing organisational finances including payroll and have a passion for our school and a willingness to support it in a volunteer capacity, at least until the 2012 AGM.
